Painter, an important master of Romanticism. From 1840 he studied at the Vienna Academy. He painted the 'Artists' Banquette', 'By the Little Iron Well' and 'Near Pozsony in 1848' in Pozsony (Bratislava, Slovakia). In Pest he became a much-wanted portrait ('István Széchenyi', 'Manó Andrássy') and genre painter ('Lady with a Parrot'). He also painted numerous sports and hunting scenes. In 1875 he made 48 pictures for the Serbian Church of Pest. His works are characterized by a thoughtful layout, a good command of the brush and material-based painting method. Several of his pictures are kept in the Hungarian National Gallery.
